About Caliber Customs

Caliber Customs LLC was started in 2016 by Michael McCarty in his hometown of Idaho Falls. He served in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Structural Mechanic and earned a mechanical engineering degree from Idaho State University. Caliber builds custom homes and commercial projects and also does remodels, kitchens, baths and ADUs.

Caliber says it can start from its portfolio of customizable designs or from scratch, and it helps clients find a home site, whether in an established community or on a private lot outside town. Its builder contract spells out where every dollar goes, with “no mysteries or unquantifiable allowances,” per its website. Caliber showed a home in Ammon in the 2024 Eastern Idaho Parade of Homes and is a builder member of the Eastern Idaho Home Builders Association.

Most custom builders don't own lots in a community, so the first step is usually finding your lot, and Jacob can help with that.

How a Caliber Custom Build Works

  1. Find the lot. Most custom builds start with land. Jacob can help you find and compare lots.
  2. Design. Start from a Caliber design or from scratch and tailor it to how you live.
  3. Contract and budget. Review Caliber's builder contract line by line.
  4. Build and move in, with Jacob involved from lot search to the final walkthrough.
